Try this delicious local sipping rum distilled and bottled in Key West, FL.
Review
Papa's Pilar Rum (9.3) is my absolute favorite rum in the states. It's a taste of the island, from Key West island. This delicious liquor, named after Earnest Hemingway's hinckley, is distilled and bottled in Key West, FL. Thankfully it now ships across the US and can be found in your local liquor store. You can easily have it shipped to your doorstep if it's not distributed local.
For years I was a bourbon only brown drinker. However, the year I proposed to my wife (in Key West!) her brother and mother convinced me to try this local liquor. We visited the distillery at happy hour where they give out 4 free shots:
1) Taste of their Cherry Cask
2) Taste of their dark
3) Taste of their light
4) Mixture of dark and light (personal fav!)
I was hooked from the moment the dark hit my lips and quickly became a brand rep. I've been pushing not only Papa Pilar but rum in general on everyone and anyone who will listen. To me, there is no better pairing with a nice cigar. I drink Papa Pilar's rum straight up, or on the rocks. It's that tasty and smooth.
Drinking Situations
Summer or Winter. Enjoy this smooth rum with a breadth of flavors including nutmeg, caramel and vanilla. These flavors could go either tropical summer vibe, or hit just as hard to warm you up by a fire in the wintertime.
This alcohol pairs perfectly with a cigar. I always enjoy mine on the rocks or straight up. It's a sipping rum!
